Andhra Pradesh Police Conduct Fresh Searches at Detained Terror Suspect’s Home, Seize Parcel Bomber

RAYACHOTI, Andhra Pradesh: This significant evolving terror development saw Andhra Pradesh police conducting fresh searches on July 5, 2025, at the house of Abubacker Siddique, one of the two recently arrested terrorists in Rayachoti, Annamayya district. During the search, the authorities recovered a parcel bomb and some more incriminating materials, establishing a cache of alleged terror plots with possible national and international ramifications.

What New Evidence Came To Light?

Also recovered from these searches were parcel bombs, which were made specifically addressing Delhi after the arrest of Siddique and Mohammed Ali by the Tamil Nadu Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) a week earlier. The Delhi connections of the accused are being actively investigated by police, along with their potential links with foreign terror organizations. The discovery underlines the further-changing scope of the threat under investigation.

Detained Suspects and Their Alleged Connections

Abubacker Siddique, described as a “big fish” by Kurnool Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Koya Praveen, is supposed to be a bomb expert who has a standing in the extremist operation. It is alleged that he ideologically follows fugitive preacher Zakir Naik and operated as a “lone wolf,” providing his expertise to those with radical ideologies. He was also suspected to have directly participated in the 2013 bombing attack on the BJP office at Malleshwaram in Bengaluru and attempted to use a pipe bomb during the rath yatra led by L.K. Advani in Madurai in 2011. Both Siddique and Mohammed Ali are said to be cadres of the banned terrorist organization Al Ummah.

Broader Dimensions of the Investigation

Authorities had previously seized from different suspect residences a massive cache of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) manufacturing materials and explosives. These earlier searches also discovered daggers, sickles, digital timers, hacking software, maps of Indian cities, and literature inspired by ISIS. Police stated that the duo had been living under false identities in Rayachoti for more than two decades and were wanted in connection with several high-profile bomb blast cases across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka since 1999.

Arrest of Wives and Continued Investigation

Siddique’s wife, Shaikh Syra Banu, and Ali’s wife, Shaikh Shameem, have also been arrested for reportedly obstructing the police in their initial raids and have been remanded to 14 days in judicial custody and shifted to Kadapa Central Jail while police look into their possible roles in the terror plot. Suspects’ homes have been put under increased security, and other individuals closely related to the suspects, Siddique and Ali, have also been stretched across police lines in a bid to help the police unearth and investigate the whole network and all collaborators.
