CHINA FLOODS: 8 DEAD, 4 MISSING AFTER FLASH FLOOD HITS CAMPSITE

BEIJING, China – August 17, 2025:A crazy flash flood in northern China has killed at least eight people, and four are still missing. Right now, people are trying to find them. It happened to a group of 13 people who were camping by a river in Inner Mongolia on Saturday night. It’s just the latest in a bunch of floods and landslides that have hit China lately because it’s been raining a lot.

How It Happened

According to Xinhua, the news people, the flood came around 10 p.m. on Saturday at a mountain area where people like to camp. The water just swept the campers away. Emergency people showed up fast.

By Sunday morning, rescue teams found one person alive. They also found eight dead. They’re still looking for the four missing people. The government told everyone to do whatever they can to find the missing people and sent a special team to the site.

Bad Weather Everywhere

This flood in Inner Mongolia isn’t the only one. Northern China has had a lot of crazy weather lately, like heavy rain, floods, and landslides.

Earlier in August, floods in Gansu province killed at least 10 people, and 33 went missing. In July, Beijing got hit with so much rain that at least 44 people died, and over 70,000 had to leave their homes.

Weather people say that all this is happening more often because of climate change. China has been sending out weather warnings lately for rain and possible landslides in a lot of places.

What’s Being Done Now

Rescue teams are having a tough time because the mountains are hard to get around in. Local leaders are trying to help people and telling them to be careful because of the weather warnings.

The government has given a lot of money to help with disasters since April. These disasters show that climate change is a real problem.

Finding the four missing people is the most important thing right now. People are going to keep looking until they find everyone.
