Tragic train-bus accident in Cuddalore: Two youngsters die, and four are injured.
CHENNAI, TAMIL NADU, INDIA: July 8, 2025: Today, horrific train accidents took two kids’ lives and injured four others in a manned railway crossing at Semmankuppam near Cuddalore. A school bus carrying students was brutally crashed into by a passenger train, which created immediate furor and sent screaming emergency responses.
Accident Details
The fatal collision occurred at a poorly interlocked manned gate along Cuddalore to Alappakkam. A private van was carrying young pupils, and this was the very moment the caring teachers tried to cross the railway track as it was hit at speed by Train No. 56813 Villupuram-Mayiladuthurai passenger. The force of the collision was such as to cause huge damage to this school vehicle.
Casualties and Injuries
Tragically enough, at least two students died on the spot in the collision. Reports so far indicate that three others were seriously wounded, bringing the number of injured to a total of four. Amongst the injured is the driver of the school van. All injured were rushed to the Cuddalore Government Hospital for emergency medical treatment.’ Authorities admit, however, that since this was such a serious accident, there is every possibility of a rise in fatalities.
Investigation Underway
A joint investigation has been launched by railway and local police officials. The investigation’s specific focus would be examining the circumstances under which the bus attempted to cross the manned gate as the train approached. These will raise questions about the functional state of the manned gate and possible human errors and safety protocol violations about how the accident occurred.
