ODISHA GANG-RAPE: THREE ACCUSED ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING WOMAN IN ANGUL DISTRICT

BHUBANESWAR, India – August 7, 2025: Police in Odisha have caught three guys, two of whom are young, after a woman was ganged up on in Angul. She was attacked when she stopped to pee in a forest, which has everyone mad, and worried about women’s safety again.

What Happened

So, on Sunday, July 3, this tribal woman was riding home with her nephew from a hospital near Chhendipada. She stopped to pee in a quiet, wooded spot, and these three guys in a tractor showed up and assaulted her.

She told the cops on Tuesday, August 5. Even though it took a bit, the cops in Angul moved fast. The police boss formed three teams to find the guys. They caught all three within a day of her report on Wednesday, August 6.

Cops Investigate

After the arrests, the cops started a big investigation. They sent crime scene people and dogs to get evidence. They also grabbed the tractor the guys used, their phones, and the clothes they wore.

Cops are treating this as a big deal and want it handled ASAP. They plan to file charges in 30 days and want the court to rush the trial so the criminals get a harsh sentence fast. The accused are locked up right now.

Worries About Safety

This awful crime is making people talk about violence against women a lot. It’s happening when the state is already getting heat for other attacks. The students got ganged up on at Gopalpur beach, and a college girl in Balasore lit herself on fire after being harassed. People are angry.

The governor, Mohan Charan Majhi, promised to protect women, but some activists say that even with new plans and stats looking a bit better, these awful cases show something’s seriously wrong.

Now, people are wondering if the new government’s plans, like the Shaktishree program, will really help. Cops are told to be super tough on crimes against women, but activists are still worried. They say things need to be enforced better, and people need to be held responsible.

What the Law Says

In India, these criminals could get in serious trouble. The new law has tough rules for assault. Since two of the accused are young, a special court will decide what happens to them. But depending on how bad the crime was and how old they are, they might be tried like adults.

Because the police want this case done fast, they’re serious about getting a quick conviction. Everyone’s watching to see if the court can make a fair ruling that stop these awful crimes. The community wants justice for the woman and an end to criminals getting away with it.
