POLICE FOIL PARCEL BOMB PLOT IN CHHATTISGARH, BUST EXPLOSIVES RACKET

KHAIRAGARH-CHHUIKHADAN-GANDAI, Chhattisgarh, India – August 17, 2025:Big news out of Chhattisgarh! Police in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai just stopped a parcel bomb plot and took down a big explosives smuggling operation. It seems a 20-year-old electrician named Vinay Verma was behind the plot. He was trying to get back at a guy who married a woman he was obsessed with. The guy who was supposed to get the bomb got suspicious of a gift-wrapped package and told the cops. Now seven people are in custody, and police have a bunch of gelatin sticks and detonators.

How the Plot Was Stopped

It all went down in Manpur village. Afsar Khan got a package made to look like a wedding gift. The thing is, it had a fake postal stamp. Since Khan just got married, this seemed weird, so he did the right thing and called the police.

The bomb squad showed up and found a 2-kilogram bomb hidden inside a new speaker. Whoever plugged it in would have been killed—a deadly trap.

The Guy Behind It All

Police say Vinay Verma from Kusami village is the main guy. He told them he was in love with Khan’s wife and had known her since school.

Turns out, Verma had been watching videos online to learn how to make a bomb. He even searched for stuff like how to kill a person with a bomb without getting caught, showing he really planned this out.

Bigger Problems

Looking into the bomb parts, police found a whole illegal explosives operation connected to a stone quarry in Durg district. That’s when things got bigger.

They arrested six more people: Parmeshwar Verma, Gopal Verma, Ghasiram Verma, Dilip Dhimar, Gopal Khelwar, and Khilesh Verma. They also grabbed 60 gelatin sticks and a couple more detonators.

Apparently, the explosives were being stolen from the quarry. Parmeshwar Verma paid about Rs 6,000 to get them from the others. Police said they’re going to talk to the quarry boss too.

Not the First Time

This sounds a lot like another case in Odisha back in 2018, where a groom and his grandma died from a wedding gift bomb.

And in Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh in 2023, a groom and his brother were killed by a home theater bomb from his wife’s ex. It’s a scary trend—using normal stuff to commit murder because of personal problems.

There are laws against this kind of stuff, like the Explosive Substances Act and the Penal Code. People can even get life in prison for causing explosions or having explosives to hurt people. These guys are looking at some serious charges.

A Bigger Deal

The bust shows a problem all over India. Explosives are being stolen and sold illegally from quarries and mines. These materials end up with criminals and sometimes even terrorists.

Lakshya Sharma, who’s the top cop in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, said they stopped a murder and found a big explosives ring. He said everyone involved will face the law.

Because the victim was smart and the police acted fast, they stopped a tragedy and uncovered a dangerous criminal operation. The investigation is still going to find everyone involved.
