Ex-NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani Hurt in New Hampshire Car Wreck
MANCHESTER, New Hampshire, USA – September 2, 2025: Rudy Giuliani, New York City’s former mayor, was badly hurt in a car crash in Manchester, New Hampshire, Saturday night. The 81-year-old was riding in a Ford Bronco when it got rear-ended, right after he stepped in to help someone in a domestic violence situation.
According to what Giuliani’s security guard, Michael Ragusa, said, the ex-mayor has a broken bone in his upper back, plus scrapes and bruises. His left arm and lower leg were also injured. Everyone in the wreck had injuries that weren’t life-threatening and was taken to a hospital.
Crash Had Nothing to Do With Earlier Event
The crash happened on Interstate 93 not long after Giuliani and his driver, Ted Goodman, who is also his spokesperson, helped someone who said they were a victim of domestic violence. The woman waved them down on the side of the road, and Giuliani stopped to help and called 911.
The police said that the New Hampshire State Police were already checking out the domestic violence report on the southbound side of the highway. They saw the crash across the way on the northbound side. Ragusa said the accident was completely separate from the earlier domestic violence call.
What Happened
The wreck involved the Ford Bronco with Giuliani in it and a Honda HR-V driven by Lauren Kemp, 19, from Concord. State police said the Honda hit the Ford Bronco from behind. The hit sent both cars swerving into the median, where they were heavily damaged.
Police said they know who was driving the car that hit Giuliani’s, but they haven’t filed any charges yet since they’re still looking into what happened.
Giuliani’s Condition and Recovery
After the accident, Giuliani was sent to a local trauma center. His business partner, Maria Ryan, who is also a nurse practitioner, came to help take care of him. Ragusa said Giuliani is doing well and getting better quickly.
The first reports from the doctors say Giuliani will probably need to wear a brace for his broken vertebra. He’s out of the hospital now, according to the latest reports, and will keep recovering, maybe with physical therapy.
Background on a Well-Known Person
Giuliani, often called America’s Mayor for how he led New York City after 9/11, has been a famous and often talked-about public figure. Years ago, he ran for U.S. President in 2008 but didn’t win.
More recently, Giuliani was a personal lawyer for former President Donald Trump. He strongly pushed claims that the 2020 election was rigged, which caused legal problems and hurt his career.
Legal and Money Problems
Earlier this year, Giuliani settled a legal case with two former election workers. They had sued him for saying false things about them about election fraud and had already won a $148 million judgment against him. The settlement let him keep his house and other valuables.
His recent legal and money issues have kept him in the news. Even with these problems, he’s still involved in conservative politics and has some support from old allies, like Donald Trump.

Helping Out
The event also showed how Giuliani stepped in to help during a crisis. His security guard said Giuliani immediately gave help to the domestic violence victim. People have been talking about this part of the story since the crash.
The New Hampshire State Police hasn’t said more about the domestic violence case. But they did say that troopers’ body cameras and dashboard cameras recorded what happened and are being watched as part of the crash investigation.
