TRAGIC BUS CRASH IN BURDWAN CLAIMS 10 LIVES; 35 INJURED ON NATIONAL HIGHWAY 19

BURDWAN, West Bengal – August 15, 2025:A really awful bus crash in East Burdwan district Friday morning resulted in 10 deaths and left 35 people hurt. The bus, full of people making a religious trip from Bihar, slammed into a truck that wasn’t moving. It happened around 7:00 a.m. on National Highway 19, near Nala Ferry Ghat. The police are trying to figure out what happened, but it looks like the bus driver might have dozed off, which made the crash even worse.

How It Happened

The bus had about 45 people on board, all headed to Motihari in Bihar after visiting Gangasagar. People say the bus was going super fast when it crashed into the back of the truck parked on the side of the road. The crash was so intense that the front of the bus got totally mashed up.

Locals heard the noise and came running to help. They started pulling people from the wreckage before the cops and ambulances got there. Because of the accident, traffic got really bad on the highway.

The People Involved

Sadly, 10 people died—eight men and two women. The 35 injured folks, including six kids, were quickly taken to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. Doctors say a lot of them are in really bad shape, and they worry that more people might die.

The victims were on their way home to Motihari. The police are trying to reach their families to let them know what happened. They’re also making a list of everyone who got hurt so they can keep the families informed.

What the Police Know

The police are checking everything out to see exactly what caused the accident. Right now, it looks like the driver was just too tired. Someone who lives nearby said that the truck had been parked there for a while, and they’d already told the police about it, but nothing had been done.

The police haven’t said anything about the truck yet. They sent a lot of officers to the site to clean up the mess and get things back to normal. Special teams are looking at the vehicles to find more information about the accident.

Road Safety Problems

This terrible accident is just another reminder of how dangerous the roads can be. When you have trucks parked where they shouldn’t be, plus people speeding and driving when they’re tired, it’s a recipe for disaster. Sadly, this kind of thing has happened way too many times.

After big crashes like this, everyone starts talking about road safety again. People want the police to be tougher on traffic laws and for the roads to be in better shape so these accidents don’t happen. This accident on Independence Day is a sad reminder of what can happen when we don’t pay enough attention to safety.

Lots of Sadness

The news of the crash has made people really sad in West Bengal and Bihar. Social media is full of messages of support for the victims and their families. What was supposed to be a religious trip turned into a tragedy, and now many families are going through a terrible time. Right now, the most important thing is to take care of the people who got hurt and support the families who lost loved ones.
