International Yoga Day 2025: “Yoga Is For Everyone, Beyond Boundaries,” Declares PM Modi at Visakhapatnam Event

VISAKHAPATNAM, Andhra Pradesh – June 21, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today led the national celebrations of the 11th International Day of Yoga in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing that “Yoga is for everyone… beyond age and boundaries.” Addressing a mighty gathering of over 3 lakh participants at the main event, the Prime Minister apprised the unifying power of yoga and its significance in a world engulfed in “tension, unrest, and instability.” Conceived as “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” this year, the global theme tends to indicate the oneness of personal well-being and the health of our planet.

Event Chronicle & Key Details

The 11th International Day of Yoga, duly celebrated worldwide on June 21, 2025, also marks the completion of one complete decade since its initiation from the proposal of India in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. This year the main event, ‘Yoga Sangam,’ was attended, where Prime Minister Modi performed the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) with the highest number of participants till now along a stretch of 26 km from Ramakrishna Beach to Bhogapuram in Visakhapatnam. This astronomical event was held at over 1 million locations across India, seeking a new Guinness World Record. CorpsyThe Freitag celebration witnessed a vibrant pre-event, with around 25,000 tribal children at Andhra University holding 108 Surya Namaskars for 108 minutes, demonstrating the immense reach of yoga into the grassroots. The Ministry of Ayush has also organized 10 ‘Signature Events’ this year, including ‘Yoga Bandhan’ for international collaboration and ‘Yoga Samavesh’ for inclusivity targeting groups with special needs, to celebrate 10 years since the opening of the global yoga movement.

Important Personalities and Officials Responses

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a special appearance at the Visakhapatnam event alongside Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu. The Chief Minister expressed his hearty welcome to the Prime Minister and stated that over 2 crore individuals took part in yoga-related activities in Andhra Pradesh.

In his speech, PM Modi shared some thoughts about yoga being practiced all over the world—by the differently-abled working on Yoga Shastras in Braille, scientists practicing yoga in space, and the village youth participating in Yoga Olympiads—said with pride. He considered yoga as a “pause button that mankind needs to breathe, balance, and put itself together once again” amidst global conflicts. He emphasized that yoga was being propelled forward in India through modern research, “evidence-based therapy”, with examples of its research at AIIMS Delhi on treating cardiac- and neurological disorders/women and mental health.

The embassies and cultural centers abroad were engaged in organizing several events for the sake of strengthening cultural diplomacy for India. King Charles III of the United Kingdom sent across a message to say how yoga is becoming more and more popular and its benefits for physical and mental health. The Archaeological Survey of India, along with the Ministry of Ayush, organized yoga activities at 81 centrally protected monuments and offered free entrance to the public on this day.

Impacts and Ramifications

The massive celebrations on International Yoga Day 2025, with particular emphasis on the overwhelming turnout in Visakhapatnam and other parts of India, establish the growing global embrace and acceptance of yoga for holistic well-being. The theme of Yoga for One Earth, One Health has reinforced a collective approach to health that cuts across divides and connects human well-being with Earth’s sustainability and echoes India’s vision of One Earth, One Family, One Future as espoused under its G20 presidency.

PM Modi’s emphasis on modern research and evidence-based therapy is a bill to incorporate traditional yoga practices into present-day health care, which could carve out fresh vistas for wellness and therapeutic applications. The inclusion of tribal children and the grassroots reach demonstrated by PM Modi’s letter to Gram Pradhans are suggestive of a continuous fight to make yoga available to all strata, including rural ones.

Reactions, Investigations, & Outlook

Celebration of the International Day of Yoga has drawn great enthusiasm, with participation from a wide section of society, both inside and outside India. The event was meticulously organized at Visakhapatnam, with high levels of security, including more than 1200 CCTVs and drones monitoring the entire 26-km stretch while 10000 police personnel were put on duty for security.

With the conclusion of the 11th Yoga Day, the prospects of yoga achieving a global overnight success and thus integrating into the modern lifestyle look bright. The Ministry of Ayush initiatives, like Signature Events and the Yoga Sangam program, would further intensify the understanding and practicing of yoga globally. Government endorsements concerning research and community interventions indicate a long-standing strategy to promote yoga as an ancient practice and a contemporary therapy for health and harmony in an increasingly convoluted world.
