Kanpur: Man Killed over Relationship with Friend’s Sister

KANPUR, Uttar Pradesh, India – September 2, 2025:Kanpur police say they’ve made progress in solving the gruesome killing of a 22-year-old man. His body was found in the Ganga River on Sunday. Cops have arrested four people. They think the crime happened because the victim was seeing the main suspect’s sister.

The victim’s name was Rishikesh. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyajit Gupta, Rishikesh was dating the sister of Pawan, the main suspect, who is still on the run. Gupta said Pawan had warned Rishikesh to stop the relationship before, but he didn’t listen.

How the Murder Happened

Police say the accused group lured Rishikesh to the Kakori forest on Friday, where they allegedly killed him. Pawan is thought to have cut up the body.

After the murder, the group used an e-rickshaw to move the body parts about six kilometers to a bridge. They threw the parts into the Ganga River. Rishikesh’s body was found on Sunday, about 22 kilometers from the bridge, near Maharajpur.

The Investigation

The case began after Rishikesh’s brother, Ravi Kumar, reported him missing on Friday. He named Pawan Nishad and his brother Bobby Nishad, plus their friends Naga Nishad, alias Prem, Arun Nishad, Nikhil, Satyam, and two others, in the report.

Mogli, alias Prince; Nikhil; Akash, alias Aloo; and Rishu Verma have been arrested. Pawan, Bobby, Satyam, and Danny are still missing. Cops are still trying to find them.

Confessions

DCP Gupta said the arrested suspects admitted they were involved. They said they killed Rishikesh in Kakori and dumped the body parts in the river. The confessions back up the police theory about why and how the crime happened.

This case shows how personal conflicts can turn violent. The police are still searching for the remaining suspects to bring them to justice.
