Tej Pratap Yadav, Booted from RJD, Starts New Group, Asks Old Party to Join
PATNA, India – August 6, 2025: Big news out of Bihar! Tej Pratap Yadav, you know, the former RJD dude, just said he’s starting his own political thing. He’s even asked his old party, the RJD, to jump on board. This comes after Lalu Prasad Yadav, the big boss at RJD, kicked out his son Tej Pratap a few months ago because of some wild post online. Tej Pratap is calling his group Team Tej Pratap Yadav, and it’s made up of like five small local parties. Get ready, because they’re planning to run in the next election and might shake things up!
How Things Fell Apart
So, Tej Pratap Yadav got kicked out of RJD back in May because of a long and messy family fight that everyone knew about. It all blew up because of a post where he said he was seeing someone, and his dad, Lalu Prasad, thought it was a bad move that went against the family.
Lalu Prasad Yadav was firm. He kicked Tej Pratap out for six years and said he was done with him in public. This caused a split between Tej Pratap and his younger bro, Tejashwi Yadav, who’s supposed to be the party’s main guy in the election.
New Group on the Block
At a press thing in Patna, Tej Pratap Yadav showed off his new crew, including Pradeep Nishad’s Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP), plus the Bhojpuriya Jan Morcha (BJM), Pragatisheel Janta Party (PJP), Wajib Adhikar Party (WAP), and Sanyukt Kisan Vikas Party (SKVP). Tej Pratap is in charge, and they’re going to run candidates in a bunch of places.
Tej Pratap seemed sure of himself when he talked to the media, kind of hinting at the people who don’t take him seriously. He was like, Let them laugh if they want. I’m standing up for my people.
Then, in what people are seeing as both an offer and a jab, he asked the RJD and Congress to join his group. He called his group a place for social justice and social rights, which is pretty much what the RJD believes in too.

What People Are Saying
The RJD hasn’t said anything official about Tej Pratap’s offer. But some people in the party are saying it’s just a trick to make the party and Tejashwi Yadav look bad.
Some political nerds think this could change things in the election, but it’s hard to know how. Tej Pratap might not be as influential as his dad and brother, but if he can get some of the Yadav voters to switch sides, it could hurt the RJD.
Plus, this new group makes things complicated for the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), where the RJD is the biggest party. Now they have to deal with a rival group led by someone from their own family, which means they might have to spend time and money fighting their own blood.
Tej Pratap’s Plan
Tej Pratap has already said he’s running in the election as an independent from the Mahua Assembly area, which he’s won before. His new group will probably help him out there.
He’s been meeting with people and holding a Janata Darbar at his house, trying to build his own support base without the RJD. He’s also been talking about how much he believes in what his grandpa, Karpoori Thakur, and other socialist leaders did, trying to get more people on his side.
So, yeah, it looks like Tej Pratap and his brother aren’t patching things up anytime soon. As the election gets closer, the RJD is going to have to fight on two fronts: against the NDA and against their own family.
